Charges withdrawn against Wysox man--5/22/2018

The Bradford County District Attorney’s Office recently withdrew all charges against a Wysox man. Jimmy Arnold Hayes, 58, was charged by the Pennsylvania State Police with: Aggravated Indecent Assault, a felony of the second degree; Corruption of Minors and Indecent Assault, misdemeanors of the first degree.

Trooper Miranda Musick filed the charges against Hayes on May 10, 2017. A preliminary hearing was conducted on June 29, 2017, before Magisterial District Judge Fred Wheaton, at which time all charges were bound over to the Court of Common Pleas.

Prior to jury selection, the Bradford County District Attorney made a motion to dismiss the charges based upon a lack of evidence. Hayes was represented by local attorney Chad M. Salsman, Esq. who did not object to the motion. Salsman and the District Attorney agreed that the costs of prosecution would be placed upon the county. President Judge Maureen T. Beirne presided over the case.

Due to the serious nature of the charges, Hayes had faced up to twenty years in a state prison if he had been convicted.
